Plain-language summary: BillMaple helps you track your household bills and utility accounts in one place. We are a tracking and reminder tool — we are not a bank, payment processor, or utility provider, and we never move money or pay bills on your behalf. You are responsible for paying your own bills on time.

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the BillMaple application or website ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms form a binding agreement between you and BillMaple ("BillMaple", "we", "us", or "our").

2. What BillMaple does

BillMaple is a household concierge application designed for Canadian homes. The Service lets you:

  • Track balances and due dates for your utilities, rent, subscriptions, and household expenses in a single dashboard;
  • Receive reminders and notifications before payment deadlines;
  • Optionally connect supported utility and telecom accounts to read your balance and due date;
  • Monitor Ontario electricity Time-of-Use (TOU) rate periods through an informational widget;
  • Scan paper bills using optical character recognition (OCR) to capture due dates and amounts.

BillMaple provides information and organizational tools only. We do not provide financial, legal, or tax advice, and the Service does not pay your bills or transfer funds.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your province or territory) and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. By using BillMaple you represent that you meet these requirements and that the information you provide is accurate.

4. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and device secure, and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at bill@billmaple.ca if you suspect unauthorized access. You may delete your account at any time from within the app.

5. Linking utility and provider accounts

If you choose to connect a third-party utility, telecom, or provider account, you authorize BillMaple to access that account solely to retrieve your balance, statement, and due-date information on your behalf. You confirm that you have the right to provide those credentials. We act only as a technical reader; we do not initiate payments, change your provider settings, or perform transactions. Your relationship with each provider continues to be governed by that provider's own terms. See our Security page for how credentials and tokens are handled.

6. Subscriptions & billing

BillMaple offers free features as well as an optional paid "Premium" subscription that unlocks features such as unlimited automated multi-account syncing and smart OCR document scanning.

  • Purchases: Premium subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play are billed by Apple or Google and are subject to their payment terms.
  • Auto-renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Managing & cancelling: You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
  • Refunds: Refunds are handled by the app store through which you purchased, in accordance with their refund policies.
  • Price changes: We may change subscription prices; changes apply to future billing periods and we will give notice as required by the app stores and applicable law.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or unauthorized purpose;
  • Access accounts or data that are not yours, or provide credentials you are not authorized to use;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service except where permitted by law;
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or place undue load on our systems or networks;
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without our written permission.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, logos, and "BillMaple" name, is owned by BillMaple and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own household use. You retain ownership of the data you submit, and you grant us a licence to process that data solely to provide the Service.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that balances, due dates, or rate information will always be accurate or current. You remain solely responsible for paying your bills on time and for verifying amounts and dates with your providers. BillMaple is not a bank, money services business, payment processor, or financial institution.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BillMaple and its directors, employees, and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, late fees, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) CAD $50. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable consumer-protection law.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that could harm us or others. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (such as intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario, Canada, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights in your home province or territory.
