Everything about the BillMaple bill reminder app — scanning, reminders, Ontario off-peak hours and pricing.
Will BillMaple actually save me money — or is it just another app?
It saves money in two concrete ways. First, late fees: Ontario utilities can charge 1.5% a month on an overdue balance, and a reminder before each due date stops that from happening. Second, if you're in Ontario, the Off-Peak Timer helps you run heavy appliances when electricity costs less than half the on-peak price. How much you save depends on your bills and habits, so we won't promise a number — but the 7-day trial is enough to see it for yourself.
Is my banking information safe?
BillMaple never asks for it. There's no bank connection, no card stored in the app and no way for BillMaple to move money. You pay on your provider's own website, as you do today. Your bill details are encrypted, and you can lock the app with Face ID or your fingerprint.
Does the app pay my bills for me?
No — and that's on purpose. BillMaple never holds your money or your banking details. When a bill is due, "Pay now" opens your provider's own payment page, and the bill is marked as paid in the app.
Will it work with my hydro, gas or internet provider?
Any provider that sends you a bill. BillMaple suggests the common ones for your city and province — Hydro One, Toronto Hydro, Alectra, Enbridge, Hydro-Québec, BC Hydro, Bell, Rogers, Telus and many more — and you can add any other provider by hand or by scanning a bill. BillMaple is not affiliated with these companies.
How does the Off-Peak Timer work?
If you live in Ontario, BillMaple follows the provincial Time-of-Use schedule (summer and winter hours, weekends off-peak) and shows the current rate on your home screen. Turn on alerts and you'll get a notification when off-peak starts, so you can run heavy appliances when power costs the least.
Does BillMaple work outside Ontario?
Yes. Bill scanning, reminders, reports, the provider list and sharing on two phones work everywhere in Canada, including Québec, British Columbia and Alberta. Only the Off-Peak Timer is Ontario-specific, because it follows Ontario's Time-of-Use schedule; in other provinces BillMaple still tracks your electricity bill and reminds you before it's due.
What are the off-peak hours in Ontario?
On Ontario's Time-of-Use plan, off-peak runs 7 PM to 7 AM on weekdays and all day on weekends and statutory holidays. In winter (November–April) on-peak is 7–11 AM and 5–7 PM; in summer (May–October) it's 11 AM–5 PM. BillMaple shows which period you're in right now and alerts you when off-peak begins.
How accurate is the bill scanning?
The AI reads the provider, amount, due date and account number from most Canadian bills in a few seconds. You always see the result before it's saved and can fix anything with a tap.
How much does it cost?
BillMaple Premium includes a 7-day free trial. After that you choose a monthly or an annual plan; the exact price in Canadian dollars is shown in the App Store before you confirm. You can cancel anytime from your App Store subscriptions.
Can my partner or roommate use the same account?
Yes. Sign in with the same email on a second phone and you can both use BillMaple at the same time — up to 2 devices per account, with no second subscription. You'll both see the same bills, due dates and reports.
Is BillMaple available on Android?
BillMaple is available now on iPhone. The Android version is in final testing and is coming soon to Google Play.
Is it available in French?
Oui ! The whole app works in English and in French. It follows your phone's language, and you can switch in Settings.
